Do Celebrity Parents Impact Baby Name Statistics?

We spoke to BabyCenter, the number one online destination for new and expecting moms, which has the largest, most comprehensive baby name database in the world: Over 100,000 names, origins and meanings. For 2008, Emma has returned to the top of the Girl Name list after slipping to number 2 last year, and Aiden continues its reign at the top of the Boys list for the third year in a row!

We all know celebs consistently push the envelope when it comes to picking a name for their newborns. Will the name Bronx be in the top 10 names for 2009 because of Ashlee and Pete Wentz? The name Jayden – Britney Spears' and Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith's name choice — is #2 this year. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt named one of their newest additions Vivienne. Vivienne is ranked #1128 on BabyCenter and its Latin origin means "Alive." Will Vivienne climb the charts next year?

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden decided on Harlow for their baby girl, turning one in just a few weeks.

Business review of the year 2008

Bright red, fresh tomatoes added a touch of colour to a masterchef session at Ciao Baby Cucina at Festival Place, which hosted a packed Women in Business Group meeting.

Restaurant owner Rita Swart told members: “I want to share my passion of cooking with you by demonstrating how quickly and easily you can prepare some of Italy's classic cuisine."

SEPTEMBER

A NEW company looked to the gods to fly high after opening for business in Basingstoke.

Talaris is now the name of the former De La Rue Cash Systems Division following a buyout.

Explaining the origins of the name, chief executive officer Tracey Graham said: “Talaris is the name given to the winged sandals of the ancient Greek god of commerce, Hermes.

Twelfth Night about symbolism

What is known is that gold, frankincense and myrrh, three symbolic gifts, were bestowed on the baby. Gold represents authority and kingship; frankincense represents priesthood and prayer; myrrh represents death and suffering.

Or perhaps, as some scholars and theologians have suggested, the gifts were common for the time. Perhaps the incense and oil had a medicinal purpose and the gold a financial one.

For the wise men, possibly Zoroastrian priests, the visit was a revelation: God took human form on Earth to appear before mankind, and the travelers were among the first to see the newborn king. The event has inspired the Nativity scene, or creche, which can be found at millions of churches and homes worldwide.

For many Christian children, it is the morning of the Epiphany, not Christmas, for which they wait with anticipation.
